Transit Ambassador
Pay Rate: $22.66 per hour
Hire Partnership is seeking friendly, professional, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Transit Ambassadors. Transit Ambassadors provide exceptional customer service, assisting riders with navigation, and helping create a safe and welcoming transit experience throughout the Greater Boston area.
This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who enjoy working with the public, solving problems, and being active throughout their workday.
Schedule
AM Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
PM Shift: 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Candidates must have flexible availability, including weekends based on operational needs.
Responsibilities

Greet and engage riders in stations, platforms, entrances, and public areas.

Assist passengers with transit navigation, fare payment options, schedules, and directions.

Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining a positive and professional presence.

Assist passengers requiring accessibility accommodations, including deploying bridge plates when needed.

Monitor station areas and report safety concerns, suspicious activity, or emergencies through established communication channels.

Serve as a visible presence to help promote a safe, welcoming, and orderly transit environment.

Respond appropriately to emergencies by following established procedures and notifying Transit Police or emergency personnel.

Accurately document activities using company-issued mobile devices, radios, and reporting systems.

Maintain knowledge of MBTA routes, schedules, service updates, and policies.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of one year of customer service, hospitality, retail, public-facing, or related experience.

Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to remain calm, professional, and helpful in fast-paced environments.

Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and basic technology for reporting purposes.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening, including marijuana testing.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during 8- to 10-hour shifts.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to lift, carry, and deploy accessibility equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Ability to regularly navigate station platforms, stairs, and public transit facilities.
